FAQ Questions:  

 

What is PTA? Why join PTA?

The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. Get Connected. 

 

What are Specials?

Specials include Art, Music, Physical Education, and Flex Tech.  These are classes that your student will attend once each week (PE is twice) at a designated time during the school day.

 

What are Thursday Folders?

Thursday folders are sent home each Thursday and contain information about school events, PTA events, completed classroom work, and other important information.  Volunteers are needed to help teachers put the information into the folders on Thursdays.  Your classroom teacher may reach out for assistance.

 

What are Spirit Nights?

Spirit Nights are fundraising events that will be scheduled throughout the year at local restaurants.  These restaurants have agreed to share a portion of their profits with Taylor.

 

Do we have to attend Spirit Nights?

Spirit Nights are optional events but they are a great way to meet other Taylor families, visit with Taylor staff, and raise money for Taylor.

 

What is GMT?

GMT stands for Good Morning Taylor.  It is a campus-wide assembly held typically on a Friday morning about every two weeks throughout the school year.  Announcements are made, acknowledgments of programs and achievements are given.  It is a sort of pep rally type assembly.

 

Do parents attend GMT?

Yes, parents and other family members are welcome and encouraged to attend GMTs. They usually last about 30 minutes.

 

What is Fun Run?

Taylor Fun Run is the fundraising event for Taylor in early Fall where your child runs/walks laps during their specials period during the school day to raise money for the school.  Pledge forms will be sent home prior to the event.

 

Should I attend the Fun Run?

Parents and family members are welcome to attend this daytime event.  Everyone welcome to attend to cheer on your child as he/she participates with their grade. Volunteers are needed to help execute the event. 

 

What is Curriculum Night?

Curriculum Night is an evening presentation by the Kinder teachers about the curriculum that your child will have this year.  Great time to learn about what your child will be learning and how his/her day is structured.

 

What is Fairy Tale Ball?

Fairy Tale Ball is a special event for kindergarten students only.  As a culminating activity for learning about story elements through fairy tales, the children dress up like his/her favorite fairy tale character, perform songs for the parents, enjoy a “feast” (small snack), and receive a visit from the queen (Principal Garza).

 

Do parents attend Fairy Tale Ball?

YES!  This is an important event to attend as it gives your kinder student a chance to show you what they are learning and what fun they are having in Kindergarten!

 

What is High Touch, High Tech?

High Touch, High Tech is a program funded by PTA to supplement the education that the students are receiving.  It is a hands-on fun approach to learning.  Each grade has the opportunity to receive grade/curriculum appropriate materials.

 

What is the Book Fair?

Book Fair is a PTA event that hosts a scholastic book fair to help families increase their personal libraries while raising money for Taylor!

 

How do I get to chaperone a Field Trip?

Field trips or study trips are scheduled for the fall and spring.  Teachers will reach out a few weeks prior to the scheduled trip to ask for parent volunteers.  Parents must complete the Frisco ISD background check in order to accompany students.
